Gary-TV.com is a nonprofit organization based in Israel that specializes in editing, translating and distributing videos on social networks. The organization was founded in 2011 when two of its founders began to spread the video of Gary Yourofsky’s powerful speech in Israel (hence the name of the organization); a speech which has transformed Israel and brought veganism to the mainstream.
Our volunteers work hard in spreading the vegan message through social networks using the most powerful and effective materials we can find. This work has been very successful in Israel for the last few years, more than any other country in the world. At the beginning of 2015 we began to act on the international level. We shifted our efforts towards strengthening our Facebook page ‘Best Video You Will Ever See‘ and began distributing educational videos to a wide audience.
Following is a list of our main projects:
Since Facebook virtually neutralized YouTube in terms of potential exposure for non-profit videos, we shifted our efforts towards strengthening our Facebook page and began distributing educational videos to a wide audience. Within a few months, the page became one of the most popular vegan pages worldwide with over 850,000 fans.
Here are some of the notable videos we posted in 2015:
- Hatcheries Investigation – Animal Equality – over 900,000 shares / 39 Million views.
- Can you guess what these girls are watching? – near 500,000 shares / 19 Million views.
- Toronto Pig Save – July 2015 – over 100,000 shares / 10 Million views.
- Here’s to ALL mothers – over 100,000 shares / 6 Million views.

The translation and distribution of Gary Yourofsky’s speech is the project from which it all started. This is the project that sparked the vegan trend here in Israel and made a cultural revolution that brought veganism to the mainstream. Yourofsky’s speech is the most viewed speech ever in Israel, with more than a 1.5 million views on YouTube (the original version + the censored version combined) and the most widely discussed speech, with countless references in the media. Israel is also the country where the highest number of people have watched the speech, more than any other country in the world. The impact of Yourofsky’s powerful speech in Israel was so strong, that it was necessary to establish a separate brand/organization for this project . Today the organization has a website, a Facebook page, a Twitter account and several YouTube channels. We use these social networks to spread our work. The work focuses on translation and distribution of the most powerful materials we encounter. Yourofsky’s speech itself is certainly the most powerful video we know to educate people on veganism – a rare combination of passion, inner pain, rage, heart, masculinity and an uncompromising truth – and we strongly recommend continuing to spread it as much as possible.
In April 2015 we launched the project ‘Never Again‘ – a bilingual website in English and Hebrew, which showcases a collection of testimonies by Holocaust survivors, family members of the victims and thinkers, speaking out against the outrageous oppression of our fellow earthlings. The project features a moving talk by Dr. Alex Hershaft, a Warsaw Ghetto survivor and one of the founders of the American Animal Rights Movement. In the video, Dr. Hershaft tells us about coping with the trauma and grief over the loss of his family, but also about the power of compassion: how his past shaped his present values, and his outlook on life and his life’s work.
In March 2014, together with Vegan Friendly, an Israeli nonprofit organization promoting veganism, we launched an online campaign featuring the Israeli supermodel, Rotem Sela. The idea of making the campaign came from Mercy For Animals‘ clip – My Story, an heartbreaking black and white video which tells the story of a cow in the dairy industry. We tried to imitate that clip with Sela, who together with her husband became vegan several months earlier after attending one of Gary Yourofsky’s speeches in Israel. In addition, it was just after the birth of Sela’s second child. Therefore, we figured she is the perfect choice to star in the video clip. The campaign included a special website (www.mother.org.il) and reached hundreds of thousands of Israelis both on Facebook and on YouTube and moved many to change their eating habits.
In June 2013 we launched an online campaign for the purpose of spreading what we view as the most powerful film ever made in the field of animal rights and veganism – “Earthlings”. The campaign included a special website (www.earthlings.co.il) where everyone can watch the film, even those under the age of 18 years who are blocked from watching it on YouTube. The campaign was very successful and as of today the film has over 145 thousand views on our YouTube channel.
Translation & Distribution of Dr. Michael Greger’s 2012 Year-in-Review Presentation: Uprooting the Leading Causes of Death
In August 2012 we launched a viral campaign to spread Dr. Michael Greger‘s 2012 Year-in-Review presentation “Uprooting the Leading Causes of Death”, which addresses the leading causes of death in the Western world and shows the health damages caused by consuming animal products compared to the many benefits of plant-based foods. In order to attract the public, we named the talk “The Talk that the Ministry of Health has to Watch” and launched a special website (www.briut.org). We also printed business cards for easy distribution of the talk. The campaign was a great success in Israel, particularly among adults, with over 260 thousand views on YouTube, as of today.
In February 2014 we spread Dr. Michael Greger’s 2013 Year-in-Review presentation “More Than an Apple a Day: Combating Common Diseases” which is also showing a great success in Israel.
At the end of May 2012 we launched a campaign to spread Melanie Joy‘s wonderful lecture on carnism, the invisible belief system, or ideology, that conditions people to eat certain animals and their by-products. The campaign included a special website (www.carnism.co.il) where everyone can watch Joy’s lecture, even those under the age of 18 years who are blocked from watching it on YouTube. The campaign was successful and as of today Joy’s lecture has over 43 thousand views on our YouTube channel.
In March 2012 we published James Wildman‘s excellent lecture on veganism and animal rights – ‘101 Reasons to Go Vegan’. This lecture of Wildman, who is a humane educator from Animal Rights Foundation of Florida (ARFF), is so impressive and convincing, that if not for Gary Yourofsky’s speech, we would have launched an entire campaign to promote this lecture instead. But since we were in the midst of a campaign to promote Yourofsky’s speech, it didn’t happen. However, we still pushed this video as hard as we could and today it has more than 100 thousand views on our YouTube channel.
Helping Animal Rights Activist Tal Gilboa Win the Israeli “Big Brother” Show
From May 2014 to August 2014, we concentrated our efforts on promoting Tal Gilboa, the vegan animal rights activist contender in the Israeli “Big Brother” reality show, the most popular TV show in Israel , and finally helped her win it. Together with the nonprofit organization Vegan Friendly, we recorded, edited and distributed many video clips from the show, encouraging the vegan community in Israel to vote for Gilboa, who eventually, indeed, won. This was an outstanding achievement for the animal rights movement in Israel. It’s safe to say that her appearance on the show, which got an incredible amount of screen time on mainstream prime time media, not only exposed the animal rights topic as never before, but also got people to make significant changes in their lives.

The film “Life According to Ohad” is an 80 minutes documentary which follows the life and struggle of Ohad Cohen, a charismatic animal liberation activist in Israel. After years of being cut off from his family, he wants to reconnect with them, but their decision to continue eating animal products stands in their way (a short promo). The film, which was completed in May 2014, won the Special Jury Mention award and received excellent reviews in Docaviv, Tel Aviv’s international documentary film festival. Currently the film is being aired on Israel’s leading satellite TV and competing at film festivals around the world.
In February 2013 we translated the Brazilian sausages prank from Portuguese to English & Hebrew and distributed it around the world both in English and Hebrew. In this prank, people find themselves in a situation where they need to hear the screams of the slaughtered animal before the latter is being served to them as a sausage. The goal was to show how we humans live in a bubble of denial when it comes to eating animals and their byproducts. The video has become one of the most viral pranks in the world with over 650 million shares(!) on our Facebook page and has also received over 2 million views on YouTube.
In May 2013 we translated and distributed the amazing, heartwarming video showing Luiz Antonio, the Brazilian boy who asks his mother why we kill animals and refuses to eat the octopus gnocchi she serves him. Within a day, the video became Israel’s most viral video ever, with about 20 thousand shares on Facebook only in Israel, appeared in the news and entertainment TV shows and was featured in the most prestigious slot of Yedioth Ahronoth, Israel’s most popular daily newspaper. Hundreds of thousands people were exposed to the innocence and the merciful heart of young Luiz and many of them have decided to change their dietary habits.
In December 2014 we were exposed to footage taken by the Australian Animal Right organization “Aussie Farms”, showing how pigs in Australia are being killed for food using gas chambers. We decided to investigate the matter further, and found similar footage from slaughterhouses in Europe. The usage of gas chambers carries a strong historical connotation when it comes to the Jewish people, which gave us hope that our new video would help to connect the dots for some of the people in Israel who still refuse to recognize the obvious atrocities until now. The exposure that the video received was very high and it also had good responses, though we had hoped for much more.
Translation and Screening of the French Film A.L.F in Two Major Theaters in Israel
In December 2013, as part of Gary Yourofsky’s speaking tour in Israel, we translated and screened the French film A.L.F in the Tel Aviv Cinematheque and the Jerusalem Cinematheque. The screening of the film followed a speech by Gary Yourofsky in both theaters.
In September 2012 and December 2013 we organized in collaboration with nonprofit organization, Vegan Friendly, two speaking tours of Gary Yourofsky in Israel. Both visits were a huge success, created a huge buzz, attracted media coverage, and drew full houses. The highlight of Yourofsky’s second visit were two major events where Yourofsky joined one of Israel’s most renowned professors, Dr. Yuval Noah Harari, author of the best seller “Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind“.
